----------------------------Original message---------------------------- The Library of the Rhode Island School of Design has the following two positions available. Both are 20/hour week sabbatical replacement positions for January - June 1998. Title: Reference Librarian Reports to: Readers' Services Librarian This is a six-month position (sabbatical replacement, January - June 1998) responsible for providing reference service. The position is half-time (20 hours/week), with expected hours of 3:00 to 7:00 PM, Sunday through Thursday. Salary $15/hour. Responsible for providing reference service, using traditional print as well as electronic resources, with focus on art, architecture and design. Also responsible for bibliographic instruction and library orientation as assigned, with special responsibility for continuing education evening classes. POSITION REQUIREMENTS: ALA-accredited MLS; MA or BA in Art History preferred. Minimum of 1 year library reference experience; demonstrated competence with traditional and on-line reference sources, with emphasis on resources in art, architecture and design; public speaking ability important. *********************************************************************** Title: Cataloger Reports to: Technical Services Librarian This is a six-month position (sabbatical replacement, January - June 1998) responsible for original cataloging of monographic materials. The position is half-time (20 hours/week), flexible hours. Salary $15/hour. Responsible for monographic cataloging on OCLC, with focus on retrospective conversion of older special collections material. POSITION REQUIREMENTS: ALA-accredited MLS; reading knowledge of French or German helpful. Minimum of 1 year Library of Congress/AACR2 cataloging experience; demonstrated competence with on-line cataloging, preferably with OCLC. Experience with other retrospective conversion projects desirable.
