Announcement of Fall Business Meeting of ARLIS/NY at PRATT INSTITUTE, =
October 9,
1997

Join ARLIS/NY for our Fall Business Meeting at the Pratt Institute Library =
on
Thursday, October 9, 1997 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.  The event will feature a =
talk
by Diana Gisolfi, Professor and Chairperson of the Department of the History=
 of
Art, on Pratt Institute's innovative double Masters program in Art History =
and
Library and Information Science, as well as the annual business meeting.  =
Among
the topics on the agenda are the upcoming elections for chapter officers
(nominations will be accepted from the floor), reports from the Board, and =
news
about upcoming events and awards.  Refreshments will be served in the Alumni
Room or (weather permitting) on the outside deck.  There will also be a =
chance
to view an exhibition, =22Pop-ups for Grown-ups,=22 featuring over 75 books,
business cards and announcements.

Don't miss this chance to meet the candidates and view Pratt Institute's
beautiful library, which was designed by architect William Tubby, with =
interiors
by the Louis Comfort Tiffany firm.

DIRECTIONS:

FROM MIDTOWN:  Take the E or the F to QUEENS PLAZA, and  transfer to the G =
going
toward Brooklyn (Smith-9th Street is the last stop at the Brooklyn end). To
transfer trains you will have to exit theplatform, walk across the overpass,=
 and
go down to the parallel platform. Get on the BACK of the train (the G is =
short
so don't stand all the wayat the end of the platform).  Get off at
CLINTON-WASHINGTON.  Walk oneblock down WASHINGTON AVENUE (you should see a
park/playground across thestreet) to DEKALB AVENUE.  Turn right, walk one =
block
to HALL STREET.

FROM DOWNTOWN:  Take the A or the C to Brooklyn.  Transfer to the G at
HOYT-SCHERMERHORN.  To transfer you simply have to walk across the =
platform=3B
stand in the FRONT of the train.  Take the G two stops to =
CLINTON-WASHINGTON.
Walk one  block down WASHINGTON AVENUE (you should see a playground/park =
accross
the street) to DEKALB AVENUE.  Turn right onto DEKALB AVENUE, walk one block=
 to
HALL STREET.  Cross the street to Pratt entrance, follow the pathway leading=
 to
the library straight ahead.

FROM UPPER EAST SIDE:  Take the 4,5,6 to UNION STREET.  Transfer to the L =
going
to Brooklyn=3Bstay in the back of the L train. Take the L to LORIMER STREET =
(2nd
stop inBrooklyn).  Transfer to the G (to transfer you will have to walk down
ahallway and then down the far set of stairs).  Take the G in the =
directionof
SMITH-9TH STREET, stay toward the back of the G train (the G is shortso =
don't
stand all the way at the end of the platform).  Get off =
atCLINTON-WASHINGTON.
Walk one block down WASHINGTON AVENUE (you should seea park/playground =
accross
the street) to DEKALB AVENUE.  Turn right, walkone library straight ahead

If you would prefer to take only one train and are ready, able, and willing =
for
a 15+ walk, you can do so from the D, M, N, Q and R stop at DEKALB (on =
Flatbush
Avenue).  Walk straight down DEKALB Avenue to Hall Street.  Of you can take =
the
2, 3, 4, and 5 stop at NEVINS (on Flatbush Avenue).  Walk two blocks down
Flatbush (toward the river, NOT toward Atlantic Avenue/BAM) to Dekalb =
Avenue,
and then down Dekalb Avenue to Hall Street, where the entrance to Pratt is
located.
