Position Announcement
BIBLIOGRAPHIC NOTES EDITOR

The Art Libraries Society of North America (ARLIS/NA) is seeking a new
editor for the Bibliographic Notes column that appears in each issue of
ARLIS/NA UPDATE.  The Bibliographic Notes Editor is a special appointment
made the the President; the position reports to the ARLIS/NA UPDATE Editor.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

a.  Scan current publishing in library science, visual resources,
information science, computers and media, art and architecture, education,
preservation, and other related fields to identify articles, books,
electronic sources, etc., of interest to the ARLIS/NA membership.

b.  Work with ARLIS/NA divisions, sections, roundtables, and committees as
appropriate to develop a broad network of contributors to help identify
important publications in specialized areas.

c.  Prepare a bimonthly column for submission to the ARLIS/NA UPDATE
Editor which lists and annotates these publications.

d.  Work closely with the ARLIS/NA UPDATE Editor to develop ideas and
guidelines for the column.

e.  Communicate with the Reviews Editor to suggest potential review titles
or reviewers.


QUALIFICATIONS:

a.  Excellent writing skills, good knowledge of Chicago Manual of Style
bibliographic format

b.  Ability to meet bimonthly copy deadline for ARLIS/NA UPDATE

c.  Access to a wide range of print and electronic publications and
bibliographic databases (close proximity to a large university library
which supports a library/information science program preferred)

d.  ARLIS/NA member in good standing
