----------------------------Original message---------------------------- September 8, 1997 POSITION AVAILABLE Librarian II (full-time) Art, Music & Audio-Visual Services Allen County Public Library RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide reference assistance to patrons and participates in collection development of fine arts areas. Supervises the department during scheduled evening or weekend hours when the manager and assistant manager are absent. Represents the library and community in a leadership role for the arts. Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills. Participates in the planning, development, presentation and evaluation of library services to the community. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: ALA/MLS degree and one year of professional library experience. Undergraduate degree with major in art preferred. Excellent organizational skills are necessary. Strong interpersonal communication skills and a commitment to providing information in the context of pro-active library service. Ability to work cooperatively and positively with a wide variety of patrons and co-workers. Ability to work a variety of day, evening and weekend hours. Friendliness, enthusiasm, energy, initiative, resourcefulness, tact, good judgment and a sense of humor are essential. COMPENSATION: Range minimum is $26,790 for 1997.
