                        Part-time Position Available

The Department of Twentieth Century Art, The Metropolitan Museum of Art,
invites applications for a part-time librarian (14 hours per week). This
position is responsible for the management and maintenance of the
department's library of approximately 7,000 books. The librarian will be
responsible for cataloging the library and  adding records to Watsonline,
the Museum's online catalog. Additional responsibilities include: ordering
books from a variety of vendors and follow-through to resolve discrepancies
and unfilled orders; processing gifts to the library; providing assistance
to departmental staff and other researchers in the use of the library; and
maintaining the collection of books, periodicals and vertical files.

Qualifications: M.L.S. degree. Library experience and general knowledge of
library operations. Knowledge of and experience in cataloging, including an
understanding of AACR2, MARC format and RLIN. Effective organizational
skills. Ability to train and supervise library volunteers. Reading knowledge
of French or German and familiarity with Twentieth Century Art.
