          The following is an announcement for an Archival Technician
          position at the Rhode Island School of Design.  Please

          The Rhode Island School of Design seeks an Archival
          Technician to assist in developing the archives for its
          School and Museum of Art.  The Archival Technician will aid
          in the survey of active and inactive records, the transfer
          and processing of collections, and with data entry.  The
          Archival Technician will also be responsible for the
          training and supervision of student employees and
          volunteers.  This is a full-time, grant-funded position
          through 6/99 and pays $12/hr plus benefits, with the
          possibility of renewal with some change in responsibilities.
          B.A. or equivalent combination of education and experience
          is required; a degree in History or Art History is
          preferred.  Attention to detail, excellent data entry
          skills, and public service orientation are essential.
          Previous archives or library experience is preferred.
          Candidate must be able to lift and carry boxes of at least
          40 lbs.  The position is available beginning 10/1/97.
