Morse, 68, long-time ARLIS member, past chair of ARLIS/SE, artist and former Director of Library Services at Ringling School of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida, passed away Tuesday, August 19, after a severe stroke. She was loved by all who knew her. Yvonne was known to Sarasotans for her neon and photocopy art as well as her library work. She was the daughter of Dorothy T. and Ernest E. Linsert. Born in Portsmouth, Virginia, she came to Sarasota with her Husband Alan in the forties, where she was a bank teller for many years. Returning to school late in life, she earned a BA in art education and a MA in library science at University of South Florida. She worked as a librarian at the Medical Center Library of USF in Tampa, Florida, the VA Medical Center Library in Fayetteville, North Carolina, and the Verman Kimbrough Memorial Library of RSAD in Sarasota, Florida. At the RSAD library she created a nurturing environment for students to study and make art. Under her leadership the library building was expanded and the collection doubled in size. Yvonne was an avid supporter of the arts and environmental concerns. She spent her retirement taking care of family, collecting art, volunteering at Ringling Museum, and transforming her yard into a wonderful garden. Yvonne is survived by her two sons, Rob and Lin Morse; four grandchildren, Keith, Kyle, Tommy and Jessica; one great grandchild, Dylan; and a huge extended family of friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent in Yvonne's memory to the Verman Kimbrough Memorial Library of the Ringling School of Art and Design. Contact Donna Fisk, Office of Institutional Advancement, Ringling School of Art and Design, 2700 North Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, FL 34234, phone (941) 359-7593. A memorial planting on the Ringling campus is also planned. A memorial service will be held in the garden of Yvonne's residence at 3:00 PM on September 6. We will all miss Yvonne.
