----------------------------Original message---------------------------- Dear Colleagues: I am just beginning to research sources for public domain images for an architectural history survey course. I have done some reasearch in our library and on the Web and have not been very successful. Our Chair mentioned that print and CD compendums of public domain art are available for reasonable prices. She did not have any further information on this. Has anyone purchased these? Did you find them helpful, with images that suited your needs? Could you refer me to vendors for this type of product? Are there resources for finding government generated images which are in the public domain? Does anyone have an address for the Beckmann Archive? Has anyone had experience writing to publishers of architectural history texts for permission to use their drawings? I am thinking of contacting the publishers of History of Architecture texts such as Fletcher, Kostof and Trachtenberg. Thank you for your insights. I would appreciate any information regarding public domain images. Our library does not have many books on architecture published before 1903 so I am trying to research comprehensive surveys that I could interlibrary loan.
