Description:The Software Librarian will coordinate software licensing and internet cataloging issues for the University of Kentucky Libraries. The position will be based in the new W. T. Young Library and will work in a team-based environment with other electronic support librarians. * Primary responsibilities: * Investigate cataloging issues related to internet resources. * Coordinate licensing and acquisition process for electronic products. * Coordination of software licensing issues for campus. * Maintaining records and control of desktop and productivity applications for the Libraries. * Provide a model database for maintaining software licensing which could be shared with other campus units. * Work in a team-based environment with desktop support, WWW, and e-text librarians. * Work on the reference desk. * Serve as a resource person for patrons with licensing questions. * Serve on Library project teams and committees. Qualifications: Required: A master's degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited library school, very high computer skill level, familiarity with licensing and copyright issues for libraries, cataloging experience, outstanding verbal and written communication skills. Desired: In depth knowledge of the internet, Windows95, Novell 4.x, database software, and productivity applications; reference experience; demonstrated ability to work in a team-based work environment. Salary: $27,500 - $30,000 Benefits:Faculty rank, 12 month appointment, 22 days annual vacation. TIAA/CREF, Fidelity, and Twentieth Century Annuity plans. Library: The University of Kentucky Libraries consists of a main library and 12 branches. Combined holdings total more than 2.6 million volumes. The System has a staff of 65 librarians and 121 support staff and serves a student body of 24,000. The Library is a member of ARL, SOLINET and the Center for Research Libraries.
