Description: The Electronic Text Librarian will work on coordinating electronic text projects for the University of Kentucky Libraries. The position will be based in the new W. T. Young Library and will work in a team-based environment with other electronic support librarians (including another electronic text librarian). Primary responsibilities: * Coordination of software and hardware maintenance as it pertains to Electronic products provided through the E-Text and Imaging program. * Work with the staff in other units on campus to provide more seamless access to the e-text and data services that those units provide. (Data sets, GIS, etc.) * Coordinate licensing and access for data sets such as ICPSR. * Work with the Government Documents Librarian to provide more coordinated, consistent access to the myriad government publications that are now available in electronic format, using guidelines recommended by the Federal Government for Depository Libraries. * Serve on Social Sciences Team. * Work with Information Services Staff and the Team Training Team to coordinate BI, PR, and Library Staff awareness of these digital collections and services. * Work with other Information Services staff in helping students develop research and multimedia projects using these products. * Work on the Reference Desk. * Conduct Library Instruction sessions. * Serve on Library project teams and committees. Qualifications: Required: A master's degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited library school, very high computer skill level, outstanding verbal and written communication skills. Desired: Reference experience; experience with Novell servers, the Windows environment, Multimedia, HTML, and SGML; familiarity with Social Science data sets and services; familiarity with copyright law and guidelines as they pertain to multimedia; demonstrated ability to work in a team-based work environment. Library: The University of Kentucky Libraries consists of a main library and 12 branches. Combined holdings total more than 2.6 million volumes.
