----------------------------Original message---------------------------- The University of California, Santa Barbara seeks applicants for the position of Visual Resources Curator in the History of Art & Architecture. This position is responsible for the management of the Visual Resource Collection (VRC) of over 350,000 slides and other image materials, for the Department (17 faculty), for teaching and research purposes. Maintains computerized image database; catalogues slides and maintains control over their production, circulation and filing. Supervises computer and audio-visual equipment, keeping up to date with developing technologies. Supervises 2 permanent staff and graduate students. Acts as liaison with Instructional Resources and faculty in other departments. Responsibilities include formulating and implementing policy, supervising collections budget and staff, acquisitions, cataloging, maintenance, conservation, circulation, and development including grant writing. Willingness to research, select, and implement new technologies in information storage and retrieval is essential. Active involvement in professional organizations and functions is expected. Minimum Requirements: M.A. in Art History or M.L.S or equivalent. Demonstrated experience working in visual resource collections, and computerized image-retrieval systems and databases. Reading knowledge of at least one foreign language. Demonstrated oral and written communication skills. Supervisory experience desirable.
