----------------------------Original message---------------------------- The Ryerson & Burnham Libraries seek an experienced catalog librarian to be responsible for original and copy cataloging of Asian-language monographs in the fields of art history and architecture. Reporting to the Head of Technical Services, the incumbent will create original catalog records and edit RLIN-member copy; make series name authority decisions; provide backup assistance to other monographic catalog librarians as needed; work with the Bibliographer in selecting Asian-language materials for the Libraries' collections; and assist in staffing the Libraries' reference desk by working one 2-hour shift per week. In addition to an accredited MLS, requirements include: previous experience cataloging Asian-language materials at a professional level; working knowledge of cataloging principles and procedures including AACR2, LCSH, USMARC formats, and DDC; experience using automated library systems; and the ability to work flexibly and creatively in a changing environment. Preferred: experience with RLIN, Innopac, and the Macintosh operating system; working knowledge of Chinese, Japanese, and Korean; NACO experience; and familiarity with standard and other reference tools in the fields of art history and architecture.
