----------------------------Original message----------------------------
To Members of the Museum Division,

Looking for a volunteer(s) to head and others to serve,
on the statistics task force as described in forwarded message below.

Any thoughts about types of statistics unique to Museum
Libraries would be welcomed from all (even non-volunteers)
-- As would any comments about the project and how such a compilation
would be useful for Museum library administrators, in particular and
library administrators in general.

Volunteers may reply to me. Reply to the list to discuss the project.
Thanks.

Subject: Statistics Task Force

As a reminder the Statistics Task Force is part of the Strategic Plan
action items:

#43 Appoint and charge task force, with representation from all
Divisions and Sections, to create guidelines for, and instruction in,
compiling, analyzing, and reporting statistical data; identify and report
on models from other organizations; provide recommendations on effective
use of statistical data for intra-institutional reporting and planning and
for inter-institutional evaluation and rating.

#44 Create standard suite of statistics useful for documentation,
budgeting, program and space planning, ranking/rating, accreditation,
staffing, fund raising.

#45 Gather and distribute statistical compilations, and
accreditation-required narrative texts, from indivudual libraries to others
of like kind.

I know the Architecture Section discussed this at their business meeting in
San Antonio and have members ready and willing to serve on such a
group....how about the rest of you?
