Watson Library, Metropolitan Museum of Art, invites applications for a newly created position, Electronic Resources Librarian. This position is responsible for providing instructional service and technical and administrative support for the Lita Annenberg Hazen and Joseph H. Hazen Center for Electronic Resources at Watson Library. The Electronic Resources Librarian will guide the development and maintenance of Watson Library's presence on the Museum's web site, and will develop and implement a program of instruction and user support in the use of electronic resources with an emphasis on WWW-based resources. In addition to supporting a growing number of electronic resources, this position will provide scheduled training sessions and workshops for Museum staff and other Watson Library users. RESPONSIBILITIES Collection development responsibilities include: building a core collection of electronic resources, including CD ROMs, online journals and other databases by subscription; establishing subject access to web-based resources through the library's web page; developing collection policies for electronic resources. The Electronic Resources Librarian will work in close cooperation with the Systems staff, Head of Reader Services, Serials Librarian and Acquisitions Coordinator. This position reports to the Chief Librarian. QUALIFICATIONS M.L.S. degree or appropriate equivalent advanced degree. Two years of library experience is essential. Experience in the use of electronic information resources and services, website management and configuration, networked client/server and web environments. A familiarity with basic microcomputer hardware and software is essential. Demonstrated experience and success in organizing and presenting training sessions and workshops. Commitment to training and user support. Background in art history and one foreign language is necessary.
