----------------------------Original message----------------------------
I've received a request from the US to explain SDI. I'm not sure what
your terminology is but this is the Australian version:

SELECTIVE DISSEMINATION OF INFORMATION

The regular distribution of information [with or without abstracts]
about selected new items in the collection.

Selections are matched to personal profiles set up to reflect the
interests of individual readers.

Most commonly this refers to periodical articles but can include
material in any format.

Hope this is clear.
