A local collector is seeking information on a painter that has come
into her collection. V. Shamberk. 20x24, oil on canvas, gilt plaster
frame. old (how old? who knows?) Probably European. Sold at auction at
James P Silo,
New York (sticker on back.) no date. I've tried, with no luck, Thieme
Becker, Benezit, Havlice, Mallett, Melton Art Ref (24,000 artists),
current auction. The name seems strange, very few Sham anythings. Name
from the signiture and the brass plate at the bottom of the frame. Any
ideas?
