   Association-College Retirement Equities Fund, potentially

HOUSE WAYS and MEANS DELIBERATING REPEAL OF
TIAA-CREF TAX-EXEMPT STATUS

This afternoon the Ways and Means Committee of the U.S. House of
Representatives is considering a tax-relief proposal that would repeal
TIAA-CREF's tax-exempt status for pension programs. Although this issue
is outside the usual purview of our association, it is of such
importance to employees at most of our member institutions that we are
honoring TIAA-CREF's request for help in notifying the higher education
community.
