DUTIES: Provides inter-library loan (ILL), reference and bibliographic services on Art and American history and biography to the users of the National Museum of American Art and National Portrait Gallery Library. Performs comprehensive bibliographic searches utilizing a wide variety of published and on-line sources where materials may be in a foreign language or format and citations incomplete or inaccurate. Supervises the automated circulation system and oversees the circulation of materials. Oversees the circulation and shelving of monographs and serials. Answers reference questions; orients visitors and new users to the library; works closely with others in the formulation of circulation and ILL policies. Serves as automation liaison. QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-6 level. Specialized experience is experience which is in or directly related to the line of work of the position and which has equipped the candidate with the specific knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position to be filled. Knowledge of at least one foreign language sufficient to recognize bibliographic information.
