----------------------------Original message---------------------------- The colleague for whom I posted the original query asked me to post an update for her: "Some additional information has come to light regarding the oil painting by the German/Austrian painter Rieger since my previous message on April 30, 1997. The still life is signed 'Rieger 18.' and on the reverse a paper label is attached bearing the text: Saechsischer Kunstverein Dresden with the number 2652. I assume that the no. 18 refers to the year 1918 and the number 2652 refers to an entry in an exhibition catalog."
