At the FA Library, IU, Bloomington, we have about 30 percent of the open
stacks marked "Does not circulate".  These generally tend to be books
over $75, and include all catalogue raisonnes, and museum collection
catalogs.  These DNC books can go out to faculty and grad. students
for limited loans based on the period of time which the borrower requires.
Other categories that do not circulate include ref.
books, oversize, periodicals (bound & unbound), and special collection
