Margaret,
You are absolutely right!! I just looked at the IDAL site and it is
wonderful, but it does need updating. (For example: There was no link to
the Frick opac and some of the staff listed were incorrect.)
At the ARLIS/NA Conference Museum Division meeting when this topic was
raised I remember asking if this were really necessary, as there is no
point in duplicating work. No one mentioned IDAL and I was not aware of
it either! Ironically, the IDAL site links to the ARLIS web site.
Perhaps the best thing for us to do is submit updates and /or
suggestions for enhancement to the IDAL editor!
Comments welcome and thanks to Margaret!

This sounds very useful, but to what extent does it overlap with the
information available thorugh the International Directory of Art
Libraries site. [http://aaln.org/ifla-idal] I suggest you talk to
Thomas Hill at Vassar who is the general editor. [[log in to unmask]]
I use IDAL all the time and it seems to me that it would be better to
enrich and update an existing source than to start another. IDAL is a
project of the IFLA Section of Art libraries of which ARLIS/NA is an
active member.
