----------------------------Original message---------------------------- Margaret, You are absolutely right!! I just looked at the IDAL site and it is wonderful, but it does need updating. (For example: There was no link to the Frick opac and some of the staff listed were incorrect.) At the ARLIS/NA Conference Museum Division meeting when this topic was raised I remember asking if this were really necessary, as there is no point in duplicating work. No one mentioned IDAL and I was not aware of it either! Ironically, the IDAL site links to the ARLIS web site. Perhaps the best thing for us to do is submit updates and /or suggestions for enhancement to the IDAL editor! Comments welcome and thanks to Margaret! ~"~"~"~"~"~"~"~"~"~"~"~"~"~"~"~"~"~"~"~"~"~"~"~"~"~ Floyd Sweeting III, Head, Information Systems Department The Frick Collection and Frick Art Reference Library [log in to unmask] ---------- From: Margaret Shaw To: Multiple recipients of list ARLIS-L Subject: Re: Museum Library Division Date: Tuesday, April 15, 1997 5:33PM ----------------------------Original message---------------------------- This sounds very useful, but to what extent does it overlap with the information available thorugh the International Directory of Art Libraries site. [http://aaln.org/ifla-idal] I suggest you talk to Thomas Hill at Vassar who is the general editor. [[log in to unmask]] I use IDAL all the time and it seems to me that it would be better to enrich and update an existing source than to start another. IDAL is a project of the IFLA Section of Art libraries of which ARLIS/NA is an active member. J.
