----------------------------Original message---------------------------- ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE SPRING MEETING OF ARLIS/Ohio Valley and ARLIS/Midstates CHAPTERS The DAAP Library of the University of Cincinnati is hosting a joint meeting of ARLIS?Ohio Valley and ARLIS/Midstates together with the Visual Resources Groups from the region on MAY 30th. The theme of the meeting is "Architecture of Cincinnati--Now and Then." The "Now" is Peter Eisenman's Aronoff Center for Design and Art. The DAAP Library and the DAAP Visual Resources Center are now housed together in the new structure. The "Then" of the title is also contained within the new building. Just how the building fits into the existing architecture on campus and how Eisenman used historic grids of Cincinnati in the building will be addressed by our speakers. Professor Walter E. Langsam, a noted local architectural historian, will give a brief talk and tour of the building. Dr. Patrick Snadon will speak on the historic architecture of Cincinnati and how the Aronoff Center fits into the urban fabric. And finally, Hank Schnabel, Director of Historic Southwest Ohio, will discuss preservation efforts in the region. Both Dr. Snadon and Mr. Schnabel will address just how the library's facilities have enhanced their respective teaching and research methodologies. Jane Carlin and Adrienne Varady will give tours of the new library including the multi-media seminar room and the expanded services and new technology in the Visual Resources Center (formerly the Slide Library).
