ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE SPRING MEETING OF ARLIS/Ohio Valley and
ARLIS/Midstates CHAPTERS

The DAAP Library of the University of Cincinnati is hosting a joint
meeting of ARLIS?Ohio Valley and ARLIS/Midstates together with
the Visual Resources Groups from the region on MAY 30th.

The theme of the meeting is "Architecture of Cincinnati--Now and
Then." The "Now" is Peter Eisenman's Aronoff Center for Design and Art.
The DAAP Library and the DAAP Visual Resources Center are now housed
together in the new structure. The "Then" of the title is also
contained within the new building. Just how the building fits into
the existing architecture on campus and how Eisenman used historic
grids of Cincinnati in the building will be addressed by our speakers.

Professor Walter E. Langsam, a noted local architectural historian,
will give a brief talk and tour of the building. Dr. Patrick Snadon
will speak on the historic architecture of Cincinnati and how the
Aronoff Center fits into the urban fabric. And finally, Hank Schnabel,
Director of Historic Southwest Ohio, will discuss preservation efforts
in the region. Both Dr. Snadon and Mr. Schnabel will address just how
the library's facilities have enhanced their respective teaching and
research methodologies.

Jane Carlin and Adrienne Varady will give tours of the new library
including the multi-media seminar room and the expanded services and
new technology in the Visual Resources Center (formerly the Slide
Library).
