----------------------------Original message---------------------------- I believe the painting you saw was the following: "Dead Christ supported by an angel" by Giorgione. oil on canvas (76.2 x 63.2 cm) private collection, New York City This was shown at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art from Oct. 30, 1979 - Jan. 7,1980 in the exhibition entitled "The golden century of Venetian painting" To see a reproduction of the painting, see the exhibition catalogue written by Terisio Pignatti (LC call # ND 621 V5 P49), p. 51. There is a long writeup on the painting on page 50.
