When a GTA, faculty or staff member leaves the University, a form must be completed before his/her final paycheck is released. The form must be signed by several entities on the campus, including the department where the person is based, the central library, the parking authority, the key shop etc. One item that is checked by the library before signing the form is whether that individual still has books or other library materials checked out and whether any fines are owed. The individual has to return all materials and pay all fines before the university treasurer's office will release the final paycheck. In the case of GTA's, the graduate office will also hold his/her diploma until all fines are cleared and materials are returned. Of course, the diploma hold would not be applicable to your museum, but the idea of holding the final paycheck might work. Sandra C.
