We have a set budget for journals. Our philosophy is to subscribe to the
most general serials, and we can consider subscribing to single-medium
serials (i.e. woodworking magazines, jewelry magazines, etc.) if there are
at least three full classes being taught in the medium.

Recently we have re-evaluated our current subscriptions after polling the
faculty for their "wish list"--we decided that we can bring in new
subscriptions if we drop some. What to drop? We decided to drop ARTFORUM
because the students (mostly adult continuing-ed working in traditional
styles) just don't read it. We are also dropping GLASS ON METAL because the
enameling students rarely read it. Also, some faculty members have donated
the money to the Art Center so that we may subscribe to ORNAMENT and
METALSMITH--but unless they can either continue their donation annually or
consistently enroll students in the appropriate media, the subscriptions
will drop.
