What does the future hold?--A colloquium for the exchange of information among those actively involved in digitizing projects, sponsored by the National Endowment for the Humanities, Division of Preservation and Access and Image Permanence Institute June 7 9, 1997 How will institutions use digital images? What image quality is required? Do we need standards? If so, who should define them? Questions like these will be discussed at the two-and-a-half-day event. It will be an ideal opportunity to ask questions and share your experiences with others in the field. Photohistorians are encouraged to attend, to add a scholar s input to the discussions and evaluations. This colloquium is part of a two-year NEH-sponsored project conducted by Image Permanence Institute (IPI) to investigate the key technical issues and problems of digital imaging for use in library and archive photographic collections. IPI s project is examining the issue of image quality requirements and their relationship to institutional policies and purposes. Results of the project so far will be presented along with status reports and thoughtful presentations from other institutions and experts.
