Knowledge of graphic design concepts, methods, and terminology is preferred. Project Description The National Graphic Design Archive Image Database at The Cooper Union is an on-line image database currently under development at The Herb Lubalin Study Center of Design and Typography in the School of Art. The Database project is a component of the National Graphic Design Archive (NGDA), a pilot program developed to encourage the collection, preservation and dissemination of material related to the history of graphic design. Job Description Describing essential typographic and layout features of graphic design materials in the Lubalin Study Center's Slide Library and Design Collection is required. Information will be entered into an on-line software program, designed for the world wide web, using terminology from the Art and Architecture Thesaurus (AAT). Cataloger will be responsible for compiling candidate terms to submit to the AAT and other administrative duties. Employed by the dean of the school of art and supervised by the assistant director of the Lubalin Study Center, the cataloger will consult with design faculty and receive guidance from the staff of the Cooper Union Library. The cataloger will be trained to use the Cooper Union database system with Netscape 3.0. on a PowerMacintosh computer. Salary $20.00 per hour Schedule/Hours Twenty hours per week. Schedule is flexible, but majority of work must be performed during normal business hours.
