Architecture Section members and all ARLIS members interested in
architecture,

In preparation for the Architecture Section's business meeting in San
Antonio (Sunday, April 6, at 11:30 am), I'd like to ask for your
assistance by thinking ahead about suggestions for programs for the
1998 conference in Philadelphia. The deadline for proposals is May 31.
This will leave us a little more time than last year, but not much!

So I am soliciting both ideas and proposal/program volunteers. The
more, the merrier! At this point, of course, I do not expect full
proposals (although I have received the draft of one already), but just
ideas and voices of interest willing to work. Please give this some
thought and get back to me at your earliest convenience.

Also, take a look at the strategic plan as it relates to the
Sections (Action List by Group), in particular items 55-56, which
outline two projects to be undtertaken by the Section in conjunction
with the Space Planners Round Table, as well as items 35-47. Get back
to me with your thoughts on the two projects, your ideas on how we
should proceed to reach our goals, and your expressions of interest
in helping to work on them.  (The Plan is posted on the ARLIS homepage;
if you do not have access to it, I will be happy to send out the
relevant sections if you email me.)

We will be electing a moderator-elect for 1998/99 at the Section
meeting. Ann Lally of the University on Arizona, our current
moderator-elect, will become Section moderator for 1997/98. The
moderator-elect becomes part of the "steering committee" along with
the current moderator and the past moderator as well as the Update
column editor. If you are interested in the post, let me know! If
you'd like to nominate someone else, that's OK too. It is a good
way to become active in the Section and the Society.

Lastly, would someone kindly volunteer to be the recorder for the business
meeting? This involves taking minutes which are then written up after
the conference. Thanks in advance!

Looking forward to hearing from all of you on the above and on any
other topics which you'd like to bring to my attention for the
meeting. Regards, Kitty
