On behalf of a client, I am trying to locate any published
information, preferably in English, on the Ecuadorean artist
(painter, graphic artist) GILBERTO ALMEIDA, or, possibly CRUY
ALMEADA, born 1928, San Antonio, Ecuador.
The only reference I managed to find was in Contemporary Latin
American Artists: Exhibitions at the Organization of American
States 1965-1985, where he is described as "one of Ecuador's most
prominent artists". It mentions that his first exhibition in
the US was in 1969, when he seemed to concentrate on drawings.
The client has a large painting that was bought in Ecuador.
I was hoping to find an article or a catalogue, but a quick
search in various databases (Arts & Hum Citations, RILA) didn't turn up
anything, so any leads would be appreciated.
