----------------------------Original message---------------------------- ** CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS ** CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS ** For those of you attending the upcoming ARLIS/NA Conference in San Antonio, April 3-9, this is a call for volunteers to help in the Internet Room. If you are well-versed in Internet technology, or can at least offer an enthusiastic presence, please consider volunteering. We'll need an attendant in the Room during open hours to answer questions, troubleshoot, and oversee the safety of the equipment. All volunteers will receive a ""I worked the Room" / Internet Room / ARLIS/NA Annual Conference / April 3-9, 1997 / San Antonio, Texas" button to wear proudly. To give you a better idea of how the Room will be configured this year, here's the general description as it will appear in the final program: "The Internet Room will be available to conference attendees wishing to surf the web, check e-mail, or do word processing. Located in the Johnson Room, the room will be equipped with four Windows 95 workstations loaded with a web browser capable of http, ftp, gopher, and telnet. In addition, the machines will be outfitted with word processing software and will have printing capabilities. Use of the machines will be on a first-come first-serve basis. You'll find a daily listing of room hours in the program schedule." This year's Room will have the following schedule. As you can see, there are lots of hours to cover, so I urge you to lend your expertise and/or enthusiasm. Fri, 4/4: 12:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Sat, 4/5: 8:00 a.m. - 6:30 p.m. Sun, 4/6: 8:00 a.m. - 6:30 p.m. Mon, 4/7: 8:00 a.m. - 6:30 p.m. Tues, 4/8: 8:00 a.m. - 6:30 p.m. Wed, 4/9: 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. If you would like to volunteer, please contact me directly so that we can begin to work out a schedule: Sam Duncan Assistant Librarian/Cataloguer Amon Carter Museum (817) 738-1933 ext. 245 [log in to unmask] And please spread the word to colleagues not on ARLIS-L.
