----------------------------Original message---------------------------- Members should truly take Mary Williamson's suggestion regarding lobbying H.W. Wilson to heart; indeed, I think we should expand our efforts to contact them through all channels, not just ARLIS, but privately, to get Art Index reconned to '29. Duke just completed a trial of the Art Abstracts product on CD (we also have access to it via FirstSearch). It's clear that HWW is putting its research dollar into upgrading recent records (i.e., abstracting the records of the Art Index) rather than into reconning. Clearly, reconned records would be a much more unique electronic service than abstacts, which BHA and ArtBibliographies Modern, among others, already offer. I think it important to affirm to HWW that in the ever-more competitive world of art journal indexing, uniqueness of product is a real factor in our decision to buy a service. Lee R.
