----------------------------Original message---------------------------- To: Subscribers to ARLIS-L From: Alison Dickey, editor, Art Index I would like to thank Elizabeth O'Keefe for her report on the visit by the ARLIS/NY chapter to our operations here and I thank all those who came for the lively discussions which we had. I want to make one correction to Elizabeth's report. She mentioned that the descriptive indexing is done in one central location and then the subject indexing done in individual departments. This is not entirely accurate. All of the indexing of magazines is done by the subject specialist indexers in their departments. I would like to invite all those who attend the ARLIS conference in San Antonio to attend our continental breakfast and talk from 7-8 am on Monday, April 7th in the Loggia near the exhibition hall.
