For those of you involved in architecture/urban design/planning, the
Council of Planning Librarians annual conference may be of interest.
Unfortunately, it is being held at the same time as ARLIS/NA. But just
in case you're not planning to attend the ARLIS/NA conference:

The Council of Planning Libraries (CPL) 1997 Annual Conference will take
place in San Diego April 3-8, 1997 at the Marriott Hotel. The theme of
this year's conference is "Fostering a Culture of Good Library Services,
Resources and Applications," and promises to challenge you and offer new
insights into issues we face as Planning and Social Science/Science
Librarians. There will be sessions on GIS, Digital Libraries, a
Publishers Focus Group, Environmental Habitats, Historical Preservation
Internet Development for Planning, Divided Cities/Border Cities/Unified
Cities/Transborder Relations; and special luncheon speakers, a San Diego
City Tour and a field trip by ferry to Coronado.

Lots of good fun awaits you in San Diego, a chance to network with
colleagues and make new friends and participate in a very interesting and
interactive program.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Julia
Gelfand, chair-elect of CPL, at 714-824-4971, 714-824-3114 (FAX) or
