Dear Amanda:

I am the Librarian of the Milwaukee Art Museum and I'm in a similar
situation to yours. I too, am in a one-person Library and struggle with
staff usage when I'm not there. The way we handle it is that the curators
(and a few essential staff) have been issued keys to the Library and they
may use it after normal hours. This eliminates the need for security to let
them in.

This does create problems, however, in that many books disappear in my
absence (we do not have a formal check-out system or security gates), and I
suspect the curators probably are not getting their information needs met to
the fullest extent if they visit while I'm gone.

Good luck finding a solution!
