We received an inquiry from the Cambria County Library System. One of their
patrons has what appears from the photograph to be a nineteenth century
color lithograpgh (rather large, dimensions not available).

The patron would like to identify the picture. The artist's signature is not
clear: HOVCIR or KUVOIR. I have checked standard sources on variations on the
spellings but found nothing.

The image is in a "portrait" orientation on the paper, and depicts a woman in
white and red robes with long wavy dark brown hair (her back to us, head turned
in profile) with hands above her head as she clings to the cross bars of a
stubby cross. The cross is part of a rock formation across which the woman
is sprawled, with a stormy sea raging around her and splashing on the rocks.
The sea and the sky are a dark blue-green. From above some light rays
beam down on the scene, and there is a white bird above in the distance. The
colors used in the print are black, light brown, blue-green, red and white.

Can anyone help us identify this?

Happy New Year!
