Colleagues: We have a patron doing research on Thomas Moran. From
the books remaining in our library on Thomas Moran, I cannot answer
these questions; perhaps someone in the know on Thomas Moran might be
able to.

The patron has found several citations to what appears to be
two publications entitled "Studies and Pictures" 1869 (the context
suggests a book of lithographs by Thomas Moran) and "Studies for
Pictures" published in the mid 1860's (the context suggess it is a book
of photographs by John Moran after drawings by Thomas Moran). We can
find no trace of these having been published (OCLC, Mansell, American
Catalogue (1858-1884)) yet the citations he has found suggest that
they were publications. The question is were they published? Who was
the publisher? When were they published? Who owns them (where could
they be consulted). Please respond to me directly rather than on the
list (unless there is enough interest in the topic to merit an
ARLIS-L response.) Advance thanks for whaterever help anyone can
provide. Gratefully, Tom Jacoby
response- rietdnm
