As you know, the JAC Project is a cooperative effort between the National Coordinating Committee on Japanese Library Resources (NCC) and the Japan Association for Cultural Exchange (ACE Japan). The first goal has been to collect art exhibition and collection catalogs produced in Japan and to make them available both in the U.S. and in Japan. The NCC received the following announcement today from Junko Kurita, Program Officer, ACE Japan: This is to announce the opening of the Art Catalog Library, Japan. With cooperation and support from several organizations, we will open the Art Catalog Library, Japan on November 12, 1996. The Library will specialize in the collection of art catalogs: exhibition catalogs held on Japanese museums and galleries; catalogs of Japanese art exhibitions held at overseas museums; and collection catalogs of museums in Japan. It is open to those researching and interested in art, aiming to assist researchers and organizations worldwide in their research on art. Bibliographic data of its collection and other activities of the library are planned to be distributed through the Internet in the future. As a JAC project, we will make further efforts to collect catalogs from museums, and we are pleased to work in cooperation with the NCC for facilitating better access to Japanese information.
