----------------------------Original message---------------------------- The new Bienes Center for the Literary Arts at Broward County Library (Ft. Lauderdale, FL), along with The Florida Center for the Book and the Broward Library Foundation, is considering establishing an annual FLORIDA ARTIST BOOK PRIZE. The Center would offer a cash prize of approximately $1,000-2,000. One of the requirements for entry would be that a copy of the book be deposited in the Center's Florida Artists' Book Collection. The tentative plans are to announce the competition as part of the opening festivities of the Bienes Center on December 4, 1996. The actual prize would then be awarded sometime in the Fall of 1997, and it would be accompanied by a selected exhibition of the competition entries. I wonder if anyone on the list has had experience in this sort of competition? Any ideas, suggestions, or guidelines would be greatly appreciated. ------------------------------------------- James A.
