We have two copies of the 1963 Yale edition of Albers. The first copy is an instructional copy used by faculty in the studios; the second is an "archival" copy never to be touched by human hands (joking). The second, pristine and complete, came to us by fluke on a credit with a bookseller. If I recall correctly, it was about $3,000 in 1985. We also have Albers on CD-ROM. I'm not so sure that modern technology has been successful at creating a tool that completely supplants the silkscreened version. It does offer some interesting manipulations that aren't possible with the printed plates. But -- there is nothing with the CD-ROM version that causes the "spark" the students get when they physically fold back the plates, disclosing the complete reality of the interaction. Has anyone seen a recent price for this title? The price I remember, perhaps as long as 6-10 years ago, was circa $2,000 US. I am aware that it is now also available in cd-rom, and wonder if the value of the original edition would have been affected by that. Any help with this would be appreciated. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Kathy Zimon Library, LT 918 Fine Arts Librarian & Curator 2500 University Drive N.W.
