The national edition of Saturday, Oct. 26 New York Times had a lengthy
article on the Dictionary of Art: Alan Riding, "From Artists to
Zygouries, at length, for $8000." p. 12. Included a photo of Jane Turner,
the editor, in front of industrial shelving holding many file folders of
dictionary entries. Things perhaps have not changed so much from James
Murray's day!

Also, at a public lecture yesterday Dr. Walter Evans, a major collector of
art by African-Americans, spoke about the Jacob Lawrence catalogue raisonne
project, announcements of which all libraries should receive. According to
Evans, the Lawrence CR will be the first for an African-American artist
(and perhaps the first for a living artist.)
