IFLA's 63rd general conference will take place in Copenhagen from 31 August - 5 September 1997. The overall conference theme will be: Libraries and information for human development. The Art Libraries Section is pleased to announce that it will hold a one-day Workshop and an Open Session during the conference. The Workshop will centre on the theme: Art libraries as centres of culture and information. The topic could be approached from a number of angles: - Libraries and cultural priorities - Libraries promoting access to the arts and to artistic innovation - Libraries: the memory of the world - Libraries and information for education - Libraries bridging information gaps - Libraries and the "Right to know"/Democratic development/ Intellectual property rights The Art Libraries Section Open Session theme will be Studying Scandinavian art and design at home and abroad. You are invited to take part in this meeting by delivering a paper or by recommending speakers to lecture on either of the two themes. If a proposal is selected the final paper, which should be between 8 and 10 A4 pages, will be required by 11 April 1997.
