I'm forwarding a query from a graduate of OCAD who is in charge of
"cataloguing" a collection (about 4,000 binders) of samples, specs, and
product catalogues -- the specs include technical information on products
and materials, technical drawings and prints -- for a design office. She
is looking for a database software that would provide access to company
names and a categorized list (index) of products and materials.
At OCAD, product catalogues and samples are housed in the Communication
and Design department so we don't have to deal with them in the Library
(at least not YET) --
I would appreciate suggestions from private design libraries as well as
larger institutional collections -- for a simple software program (not
full MARC) that would work.
