Is your library experiencing what Peter Vaill calls "permanent white
water?" Do you feel you need to be learning more, faster to adjust to new
situations and to continue to make effective decisions?

JOIN US IN KANSAS CITY!

The Association of Research Libraries Office of Management Services has
designed a 2 1/2-day Institute which allows participants to explore and
work with the subject of change and its effect on the way libraries do the
work they want to do. "Facilitating Change" is an opportunity to consider
new approaches to the rapidly changing environment, to gain skills in
making judgments and decisions while preparing for the next wave, to learn
how to effectively implement desired change and manage unexpected change,
and to share experiences and knowledge with one another. Finally, the
Institute includes skills for analyzing and diagnosing organizational
situations from the micro to the macro-levels in a way similar to that that
external consultants employ.

This Institute will be held in Kansas City, MO October 21-23 at the
fascinating and unique Linda Hall Library. The Raphael Hotel in Kansas
City's Country Club Plaza area will be home base for the participants and
faculty.

The Institute is appropriate for staff and administrators from all types of
libraries. To register for this timely program see the information below.
