RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides reference services in the fields of art, archaeology, and art history; including reference desk assistance and library instruction. Assumes primary responsibility for development and maintenance of the vertical file, and the creation and updating of user guides. Assists in collection development responsibilites for the reference and studio art collections. Assumes responsibility for the operation of the library in the absence of the head; including aspects of facilities, supervision and collection management. QUALIFICATIONS: Required: ALA-accredited master's degree in library science. Experience required: One year professional library experience which includes recent reference and instructional responsibilities; demonstrated familiarity with the literature of the visual arts; demonstrated skills in searching electronic resources; strong public services orientation; effective communication skills; and the ability to work as part of a team. Preferred: Knowledge or experience in the fields of art or art history; ability to utilize a variety of databases; working knowledge of at least one foreign language relevant to the collection.
