The School of Art & Art History, University of Iowa, seeks a full-time
Chief Curator for the Office of Visual Materials.  The Chief Curator
reports to the Director of the School of Art & Art History and
administers all operations and services of the OVM including the
production and cataloguing of slides (current collection=270,000 slides
serving a 12-member art history faculty) and the supervision of the staff
of one full-time professional curator, one half-time clerk, and a student
work-study staff.  The Chief Curator will also be responsible for
investigating and implementing new technologically-based storage and
delivery systems for visual images, such as computer databases, CD-ROM,
digitization, and electronic transfer.  Qualifications:  M.L.S. (with
appropriate training in visual resources) and/or M.A. in Art History.
Applicants holding only one or the other of these degrees must have
accomplished extensive coursework toward the other.  Applicants will have
had several years of experience working in and managing a visual
resources collection.  Highly developed organizational and interpersonal
skills are essential.  Level:  Librarian I or II classification (salary
commensurate with experience).  Deadline:  Search Committee will review
