----------------------------Original message---------------------------- The message re L.A. vendors for lit, hist, art was forwarded to me from your list by someone at my institution. In case the person has not received some suggestions yet or this would be of broader interest (many on the list are probably familiar with most of these vendors): Howard Karno Books has an approval plan specifically for L.A. art books and exhibition catalogs (Beverly Karno), and focuses particularly on Mexico-can be limited to specific museums, etc. Books from Mexico also has approval plans for art, lit., hist, etc. Examples of other vendors/approval plans commonly used (that could limit the profile to art or hist, lit, etc.) are: Susan Bach (Brazil) Editorial Inca (Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, Venezuela, Bolivia) Garcia Cambeiro (Argentina) Literatura de Vientos Tropicales (Central America) or Libros Centroamericanos Addresses and information on these vendors and approval plans appear in the Directory of Vendors of Latin American Library materials (4th ed. obtained from the SALALM Secretariat ([log in to unmask]) as can their membership mailing list (e-mail addresses of vendors). Some of the above vendors have home pages and most are on e-mail. Paula Covington Latin American and Iberian Bibliographer Vanderbilt University [log in to unmask] (615)322-6282 Fax: 615-343-7276
