Does anyone know if issues of American Fabrics are valuable?
How about the history of this magazine?
I was asked this reference question via email and am stumped.

Thanks in advance.

I just returned from brunch and a visit to a used book store where I found 5
issues of American Fabrics magagine (I think I got the title right, I forgot
to write it down) from 1950 and 1951. This appears to have been (still is?)
a publication produced by the American fabric industry for the fashion
industry.

The magazines contained ads by manufacturers or segments of the industry
(i.e. woolen mills) with little swatches of fabric pasted on the pages.
There were articles on manufacturing and/or printing processes and history;
articles on history of designs, clothing styles or print patterns (such as
one neat article on paisleys, another on Tunisian clothing shapes). Some
even had little templates to help you isolate segments of a design for effect.

Each of the magazines still had its special inserts and cards where you
could send away for more info or reprints of articles.
The price was $25 per magazine, which seems kind of steep
on my budget. He said he had no leeway to negotiate and more or less
invited me to buy or leave.

Has anyone heard of these magazines? Are they hard to find? Are they worth
$25 each?
