FOLLOWERSHIP SKILLS FOR THE TRANSFORMING ORGANIZATION

Friday July 5, 1996 9:00 - 4:30 p.m.
Doral Inn -- Crystal Room A
541 Lexington Ave. at 49th St.
New York City

*** Come Explore Followership -- The Forgotten Powerbase! ***

Faced with a future of increased interdependence and teamwork among members,
organizations recognize that it is no longer enough to singly focus on
leadership skills. This focus must be equally balanced by an encouragement
and development of followership skills.

This workshop will define effective followership, examine the strengths
and skills of the effective follower and discuss the organizational
significance of the followership role. Participants will have the
opportunity to design action plans to dispel today's negative stereotype
of the follower within their institutions and create strategies
for building effective followership roles.

The workshop is designed for staff from all types of libraries and will
include group discussion, study of models, case studies and exercises.

FACILITATOR: Kathryn Deiss, ARL/OMS Program Officer for Training
