----------------------------Original message---------------------------- *****Drawing and Painting Field Camp****** Near Sunlight Basin in Northwestern Wyoming --August 11-17, 1996-- This field class is located in the unique landscape of northwest Wyoming inside the Shoshone National Forest near the Absorka Mountains. The terrain encompasses expansive views offering a variety of geological formations, spatial scale and temporal elements. Along with other committed artists, you will have an opportunity to investigate issues of drawing and painting from the "landscape." Emphasis will be given to developing perception while working from direct observation. The program of study includes off site trips, open discussions, group and individual critiques and slide presentations. Enrollment: Open to individuals age 18+ Fees & Costs: Tuition $250, Bunk and Board $225. Payment: $225 deposit is due with enrollment. The balance of $250 is due July 1. Facilities & Location: Rustic cabin accommodations with group meals in the dining hall at the Northwest College Field Station at Painter Road off the Chief Joseph Scenic Highway, approximately 30 miles north of Cody, Wyoming. Schedule: Mornings and afternoons students work on-site in "outdoor" studios. Discussions, critiques and presentations are held in late afternoon or evening at the conference lodge. Sunday-Saturday. Equipment: A list of recommended supplies and equipment is provided upon enrollment. Credit: This is a non credit program with no college affiliation. College students can check with their academic advisors or department chairs for requirements to arrange credit for independent study. Travel Arrangements: Participants provide their own transportation to Cody, Wyoming from where transportation to the site will be provided Sunday.
