----------------------------Original message----------------------------
I thought I'd give everyone a (not-so) brief update on the ARLIS/NA
arranged half of the tours in Miami Beach. These are the tours of the
collector's homes, the bicycle tours of the art deco district and the
museum tours (MOCA and the Bass/Wolfsonian).

Information on the AMC-arranged tours (Key West, Everglades, Art Deco bus
tours, etc.) will be coming your way Monday or Tuesday. AMC will be
notifying everyone but I figured this email would beat some of the letters
to your doors and help you to refine your plans.

(1) We have cancelled one tour due to (extreme) lack of interest - the
Metro Dade Art in Public Places/Center for the Fine Arts/Wolfsonian Media
Center tour. Only three people had signed up for this tour. American
Meetings & Conventions, Inc. will be notifying those three people and
Barbara Young (our Tours and Transporation Committee Chair) is developing
information for them to do parts of the tour on their own.

If you're one of those three people you might want to give AMC a call and
sign up for a different tour. 1-800-875-4181

(they didn't tell me to have people call and sign up but I can't see any
other way to do it at this late date - you could also wait and do it when
you arrive at the Doral but, to me, an accurate count is always a better
count, so.....).

(2) The Sackner home tour is full. They have graciously enlarged the
number of people they can handle (twice) but we've reached the limit.
You'll be notified if you didn't get in (it will be just a small handful of
late registrants).

(3) As of the list run at noon on Friday there were two spaces left on the
Shack Collection tour. I'm going to call on Monday first thing so
(hopefully, for me) there is only one place left! ;-)

(4) Bicycle tours of the Art Deco District. The last three registrants
for the Saturday April 27 tour will be notified they didn't get in. There
are still six slots left on the Wednesday morning May 1 tour. AMC will be
notifying people officially this week.

(5) Everyone who has registered for the two museum tours (Museum of
Contemporary Art and the Bass Museum/Wolfsonian Library tours) is in and
the tours are happening as described in the preliminary conference
brochure. There are spaces left if you want to register on site. There are
a good ten to fifteen spaces left on each bus.

I do have one piece of early information concerning the AMC packaged tours.
The Palm Beach Day Trip has definately been cancelled - not enough people
signed up. Letters will go out Monday. If you are reading this and had
signed up for the Palm Beach trip, you'll need to select something else (or
get a refund). I will be checking Monday morning to see if people can do
two tours that back up to each other (such as the Everglades from 8-1 and
the Art Deco/Lunch or the Vizcaya tour). If you're on the Palm Beach list
and are reading this note, you might want to give AMC a call and schedule
something else NOW! (or, um, Monday when they open for business).
